About Me

My current position is with Agriculture Research Station, Fort Valley State University as Post-doctoral fellow. I work to identify physical and chemical barriers that hinder the growth of Aspergillus in peanut, which produces a toxic chemical compound called Aflatoxin. To identify such physical (cuticle, trichomes etc.) and chemical barriers (wax, tannins, polyphenols etc.), we growgenetically different peanut cultivars in green house as well as in field and study their micro-morphological characters and phytochemicals.

Previous to this I was with National Center for Natural Products Research, University of Mississippi as Post-doctoral fellow. I work on the development of HPLTC and NMR fingerprints for botanicals. Prior to joining University of Mississippi, I worked at Morgan State University, as a post-doc focusing on developing DNA barcodes for some of the selected medicinal plants. Before that I was a PhD student in University of Oslo, Norway. With a host of national and international colleagues, I worked on various aspects of botanicals i.e., ethnobotany, value chain, plant collection and identification, development of molecular and chemical methods for medicinal plants authentication.

Before the start of my PhD, I was a researcher in Ashoka Trust For Research In Ecology and The Environment, and University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology, India.
